Each CSSE-style mock exam has been written carefully written by a fully qualified teacher, they are unique to Essex 11 Plus Tutoring.  They are in the same format as the latest CSSE 11 Plus examinations and are also of a similar level of difficulty. 

Often children will under perform when sitting their first mock paper.  This is because they are not used to working under exam conditions.  To develop good examination techniques takes practice.  Taking a series of 11 plus mock examinations will help your children develop consistency in an examination environment. 

The examination will take place in a secondary school examination hall.  Many other tuition centres use village halls.  Essex 11 Plus Tutoring has chosen to hold their mocks at a secondary school, as it is important to replicate the real exam as closely as possible to help children perfect their exam technique and overcome and exam day nerves before the real exam. 

By children attending mock exams this help them get used to

• arriving at a venue and being left where they do not know anyone.
• working in a large exam hall, which are often very echoey. 
• working at an exam table (these are much smaller than your kitchen table / village hall table).
• managing their toilet breaks.
• managing their time so that the complete their papers within the given time.
• listening to instructions.
• filling out the front of the exam papers.
• working and not getting distracted by invigilators walking past, children coughing, chairs moving, whispering etc. 
• exam halls can often be quite chilly.

At Essex 11 Plus Tutoring all children who attend a mock exam are required to wear full school uniform.  Wearing school uniform, children are in a working frame of mind and will often perform better than in their home clothes.  

 By completing mock exams, will help you to identify your child's strengths and weaknesses. You will find that you notice different strengths and weaknesses from different mocks, this will help you to identify overall strengths and weaknesses.  This will allow you to target the areas that need the most attention. 

Performing well in one mock does not ensure that your child will always perform well.  If however, your child consistently performs well over a series of CSSE 11 Plus style mocks, they are much more likely to perform well in the real examination.
